A good campaign runs on generosity as much as effort — and this week the folk at Northwich showed plenty of it.
A big thank-you to the River Weaver Festival
As Shirley Sefton shared afterwards, many thanks are due to the River Weaver Festival at Northwich for supporting the Fund Britain’s Waterways campaign. The photos say it all: the FBW gazebo pitched up, the “Our Canals & Rivers Are Under Threat” banners on display, and a cheerful group of campaigners holding the flag with the festival buzzing around them. Being welcomed in by an event like this matters — it puts the campaign right in front of the very people who love the water, and it turns a stall in a corner into a proper conversation with the public.
The thank-you came via the Fund Britain’s Waterways Facebook group.
Why the welcome matters
Fund Britain’s Waterways is a coalition of organisations speaking up for the hundreds of thousands of people who use and love Britain’s canals and rivers. Local festivals opening their doors to the campaign is exactly how the message spreads — and it all points to the same goal: the sustainable, long-term government funding our waterways need to stay open and cared for.
