• Flat calm on the Manchester Ship Canal for today’s cruise

You couldn’t ask for better cruising weather. Fund Britain’s Waterways shared a lovely sight to set the day up.

Calm water ahead

In their post, the campaign showed the Manchester Ship Canal looking very calm for today’s campaign cruise. Flat, still water stretching away into a soft grey morning: the sort of scene that reminds you why so many of us fell for the waterways in the first place.

Why it matters

Fund Britain’s Waterways is a coalition of organisations speaking up for the hundreds of thousands of people who use and love Britain’s canals and rivers. Days like this are a gentle reminder of what’s at stake: keeping these waters open and cared for takes proper, sustained funding, which is exactly what the campaign is asking government to provide.

If a calm morning on the cut is your idea of time well spent, the most useful thing you can do is add your name. Please sign the petition and help keep the pressure on for the funding our waterways so badly need. #FundBritainsWaterways
