There are few better ways to appreciate how far the Lichfield Canal has come than from the air.
Court Above The Cut has shared a striking set of aerial photographs, posted together with the Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust, showing Gallows Wharf looking fantastic in water. “MASSIVE progress,” as the caption rightly puts it.
The images look down over the restored channel, the newly walled sections and the water now sitting where, not so long ago, there was only a dry cutting.
It’s a real lift to see the transformation laid out so clearly from above — a reminder of just how much the volunteers have achieved along this stretch.
