Fancy a gentle day out by the water? The Melksham, Calne & Chippenham (MCC) branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust holds regular monthly open days at Pewsham Locks, just outside Chippenham.
These friendly, welcoming days are a lovely way to see canal restoration up close. Visitors can take a boat trip along the canal, meet the volunteers behind the work, and find out more about the branch’s efforts to bring this stretch of the Wilts & Berks back to life. The branch recently flagged its Saturday open day for anyone who wanted to come along.
It is exactly the kind of hands-on, community-minded event that makes canal restoration so rewarding to be part of — whether you are a lifelong boater or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes.
