The transformation is almost complete. The Cotswold Canals Trust’s Brimscombe Charity Book & Music Shop has a vibrant new look, thanks to the first of two community murals painted by local artists Mint & Mabel.
Delivered in partnership with Cotswold Canals Connected, the mural celebrates the wildlife, heritage and natural beauty of the Cotswold Canals. Over a busy open day, visitors watched the artists at work, met the volunteers, browsed the bookshop and joined a community art activity that will eventually be displayed along the canal. A second mural by Nat Morley — a striking celebration of the canal’s biodiversity above and below the waterline — is now nearing completion on the opposite wall.
Trust Chair David Hagg dropped by to thank the artists in person, describing the murals as “a fantastic addition to Brimscombe”. The bookshop is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm — well worth a visit to admire the artwork and browse the shelves in support of the canal’s restoration.
