Every canal restoration runs on the goodwill of its volunteers, so it is always lovely to see one of them recognised.
Congratulations to Wilts & Berks Canal Trust volunteer Howard Yardy, who has been shortlisted for the BBC Radio Wiltshire Make A Difference Awards. These awards celebrate the people who quietly give their time and energy to make their communities better — and anyone who has spent time around the Wilts & Berks will know just how much that dedication matters.
From work parties in the mud to welcoming visitors on open days, it is volunteers like Howard who keep the dream of a restored canal moving forward, one day at a time. A shortlisting like this is a fitting thank-you for all that effort.
