Huge congratulations to George Rogers, the Chesterfield Canal Trust’s Development Manager, who has completed the gruelling John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge — the full length of Britain — in a remarkable 23 hours and 57 minutes.
Coming in under 24 hours is all the more impressive given what the route threw at him, from roadworks in the far north of Scotland to a fallen tree at Lockerbie. The Trust has offered him, in its own words, “massive congratulations”.
It is a terrific effort in aid of the canal George works to restore — and there is still time to get behind him.
