After months of preparation, planning and a good deal of patience, the volunteer team at Gallows Wharf has hit a major milestone — the big pipe is out.
Through the spring, volunteers with the Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust have been working steadily on the first section of the new channel, running from London Road bridge along Gallows Reach. This week the long-awaited moment finally arrived.
It’s the kind of hands-on progress that turns the vision of a restored Lichfield Canal into something you can actually see taking shape on the ground — and a real credit to the volunteers who keep at it, week after week.
